Put a thin layer of glue ( I used the flexible adhesive shown above) along the seam of the shoe that runs diagonal across the top. Quickly place the finished edge of the lace fabric along the seam, smooth & press lace down, hold lace on the glue for a moment. Continue adding glue from the seam to the toe, and to the bottom edge of shoe. Press, smooth, and hold fabric down firmly as you go.
When the lace has been glued down along the bottom edge of BOBS (or TOMS), cut excess fabric off. I then took that sheer black ribbon in the picture and glued it down on top of the bottom edge of the lace to give it a finished look.
After a couple hours (to make sure adhesive was completely dry), I put a layer of Mod Podge over the lace.
If you accidentally get them muddy, they can go in the washing machine (by themselves and use only a little bit of detergent). Lay them in the sun to dry. I've thrown them in the dryer too, but only for 20 minutes or less.
Tip:
Don't let your boyfriend's dog get a hold of them :'(
